A moving story from one of our wonderful partners, Nutrition for Learning:
Today as a mother of 7 picked up the food we placed on the cart for her, she said:
"Thank you! Canada good! Canada help me!"
It was so gratifying to hear these words. This mother lifted my spirits.
I have been so saddened by the news stories of racism and tragedy in Canada lately. This mother reminded me with her simple phrase that good is happening here in Canada, too.
Though we have a history of systemic racism and must continue to improve our country for all, there are many good people out there helping each other!
The Jewish community is full of 'good people out there helping each other' - and Mazon is proud to be a way we 'make Canada good' together.
Shabbat shalom.
