Talia Ralph

Director

Talia is a lawyer, writer, artist and mother from Montreal passionate about food security and policy. She works as a food lawyer for the Canadian government, and holds an honours’ degree in journalism from Emerson College (2011); a Master's in food systems from NYU (2015); and a dual degree in civil and common law from McGill’s Faculty of Law (2019). She has been a member of the Ontario Bar since 2020.

Before becoming a lawyer, Talia spent nearly 10 years as a journalist and editor, writing about international politics and - you guessed it - food. As a law student, she founded the McGill Food Law Clinic, which offered legal information to food-focused non-profits and start-ups. Talia has also volunteered her time with organizations including Resource Movement, the Montreal Restaurant Workers' Relief Fund, Pro Bono Students Canada, the Canadian Cross-Border Legal Coalition, and Santrolpol Roulant. Last but certainly not least, Talia is a proud mom to a spotted rescue dog and incredible toddler, and lucky wife to Sam. In her free time, Talia loves to cook and bake for family, friends, and her Temple's kugel club, and when she is not in her kitchen can often be found on her bike, making art, or hosting community-focused events in Montreal.
