How We Help
OUR HUNGER RELIEF SYSTEM HAS A PROBLEM
There are thousands of hunger relief programs in Canada.
Many of them are underfunded.
"At school meal programs, we often can't give our kids as much food as they need."
"At food banks, we give out whatever gets donated - often poor quality food like dried beans and crackers."
"At shelters, our volunteers are pushed to the limits just trying to serve food - they can't fundraise!"
Each year, 4 MILLION CANADIANS are forced to choose between food and other critical expenses.
The cost of food and living expenses is ON THE RISE.
Food insecurity can seriously impact :
-
development in children
-
life span in the elderly
-
health, happiness & quality of life in everyone.
When Canadians go hungry, the Jewish community cares.
MAZON CANADA IS HOW WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT - TOGETHER.

We Help Through:
GROCERY GRANTS
These grants are for organizations buying food directly for people in need. This is the most urgent aspect of our work.
GARDEN GRANTS
These grants buy supplies for community gardens, teaching people in need to grow their own food and helping organizations feed healthy fruits and vegetables to their clients.
GEAR GRANTS
These grants help organizations buy equipment that builds their capacities for feeding the hungry, like kitchen equipment.

EDUCATING
We teach Jewish communities about the realities of hunger in Canada, Jewish laws and traditions around hunger, and what we can do to help.
MOBILIZING
We mobilize volunteers for "cook-in" events where we prepare food for partner programs in our own communities.
EVERYTHING ELSE
We're always on the looking for new ways to fight hunger, from funding start-up services that help the whole food security industry to connecting our partners with critical services to launching a brand-new resource library.
We PRIORITIZE partners that:
-
are mostly powered by volunteers.
-
are small with limited resources
-
show efficient use of funds
-
are carefully vetted by our Allocations committee
-
and together help a diverse portfolio of people in need.
That's how we're serving 450 meals a day through 130+ partners.
But we can't do it without your support.
